Lord’s Taverners Scholarships 2011

KatieJaneHartshorn

Katie Jane Hartshorn is a left hand orthodox bowler and a right hand lower order bat. As a 16 year old Katie played her first season with the Cripps Tasmanian Roar, debuting in round 1. Katie has played for her state in both shorter forms of the game and was vice captain of the Tasmanian under 18 side.

Trent Keep is a top order bat/keeper from Latrobe. Trent has represented Tasmania at under 17 and Under 19 level. He has moved to South Hobart/Sandy Bay, the club of both Katie and Tasmanian captain George Bailey.

The awards carry a full cricket kit donated by Kookaburra Sports, a scholarship cheque for $1,000 and a commemorative plaque.

Our Junior Lords Taverner awardees follow in some illustrious footsteps, not the least of whom is Xavier Doherty, who took 4 wickets in Australia's big win over Sri Lanka on Saturday August 20 at Columbo.

We will watch their careers with keen interest.

Two outstanding young cricketers were presented with Lord's Taverners Scholarships at the annual Ron Barassi Debate breakfast at Wrest Point on Wednesday, 28 July, 2010

16 year old Emma Humphries from Wynyard

Emma is a right hand bat and right arm leg spin bowler.
Emma has played Under 17 for Tasmania at the past 2 National Championships.
She also represented the state in the Bendigo T20 competition.
Her highest score in the U17's was 16 and she had an average of 10. Her leg spinners returned a best bowling of 3-42.
Emma was selected as a Rookie in the Tasmanian ROAR squad for this coming season. She started playing at age 11 with Wynyard Colts (under 16 Boys) as a fill in 2005/6 season.
The Colts were runners up in 2006/7 season and premiers in the 2007/8 season.

Hobart's 17 year old Harry Allanby

Harry is a left arm orthodox spinner and right hand middle order batsman
Under 17 Tas Team last 2 National Championship's - 08/09 Perth & 09/10 Adelaide
Under 17 Player of the '09/10 Championship, Adelaide (Highest 82 no, Best bowling 3-38)
Second highest wicket taker for Tasmanian Under 19's , 12 wickets, Canberra 09/10
Attended Australian Cricket Centre of Excellence in Brisbane,  January 2010
Regular First Grade player with the Clarence District Cricket Club, made debut at 15 years of age, taking his first 5 wicket haul last year in 1st Grade.
Harry has just been picked as Captain for the first time of an U19 Colts Team to travel to NSW in October this year
